the way i see you : week 1 : a blogger collaboration
my friend katie asked me to be apart of a super sweet mini series called "the way i see you". it's gonna happen every friday for the next four weeks. this series is inspired by "you are my wild". just a fun way to capture our children & share with others. so honored to be asked to be a part of this with some super great bloggers & photographers. enjoy.

He is good
5 years ago today my mom passed away from brain cancer. & as the years pass that i wish she was here to experience life with us, to see my children grow, to cry & laugh with, to ask her advice... i see more & more how good our God is! He is so faithful to bind up our wounds, to be near to the brokenhearted. in His perfect will to take mom home, before we thought was "right", He has not once abandoned us. we deserve so much worse than our family has been through... we deserve death & the grave, but look at how good He's been!!! my Father is good & gracious & loving & i rejoice in Him today! ...it's what my mom is doing this very moment!!!

trips are good for the soul!
i took a short trip with the boys to visit friends in memphis! oh goodness it was refreshing for my soul! sometimes it's just good to get out of our current situation to see where we used to be & where the Lord has brought us or to be encouraged by friends & just have fun!
the boys did sooooo well & i delighted in them so so much! praise the Lord for the chance to go visit & for His grace on our family while we traveled. we miss our memphis friends more than we can say!

talk & talk & talk
most days i feel like all i do is talk & talk & talk to the boys & with the boys. instruction, direction, discipline, jokes, encouragement, correction, etc. & sometimes they listen & sometimes i get annoyed that they don't listen. & sometimes i feel like they just tune my voice out because they're used to hearing it so much. & sometimes when we're in public i feel like people think we correct & talk with them a lot. but then i remembered...
"and these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. you shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise."
deuteronomy 6:6-7
so as mommies & daddies we need to be talking with our kids A LOT! & if we're not... then we have our priorities messed up. how will they learn the gospel & what to value & how to love people & EVERYTHING ELSE they need to know if we're not teaching them?!!!! someone else will teach them if we're not teaching them & are we sure we want someone else teaching them what life is all about?!
we HAVE to talk... & maybe we should be talking more!
